Home Made Meatballs in Tomato and Onion Relish

Recipes serves 2-4 persons.
Preparation time is 5 minutes.
Cooking Time is 60 minutes.

Homemade meatballs are always a favorite for any guy. Present the dish on rice or pasta of your choice or next to a baked potato for a difference.

The Ingredients for the Homemade Meatballs

A sachet of your favorite cook in sauce - Bolognaise or meatball or savoury mince will do.

100ml of water.

500 grams of lean mince meat.

1 Onion - finely chopped.

1 Hnadful of fresh basil - finely chopped.

Sunflower or Olive oil for the pan.

1 Tin of Tomato and Onion mix.

100ml of Beef Stock. mixed as per cube instructions.

125 grams of Parmesan or any grated cheese you prefer.

Cooking Instructions

Empty your chosen packet sauce into a bowl and add the 100 ml water- hot or cold does not matter.

Add your mince, finely chopped onion and finely chopped basil to the same bowl and mix it well with your hands or a fork to flavor the mince.

Place some oil into a frying pan about a centimetre deep and heat to a egg frying temperature.

Now beigin to shape the mince mixture into balls and place on a plate ready to fry. Once your are ready, you can start to fry the meatballs in the oil until a golden brown color starts to appear. You can decide how rare you wish to make the meatballs.

Turn off the frying pan and heat the oven to 180 to 190 degrees. Place the meatballs in a galss casserole dish for hte oven and pour over the tin of tomato and onion gravy/relish.Mix the beef stock and pour into the casserole dish with the meatballs and relish. Give the meatballs a brief stir to coat everything nicely. If you like, you can add a little rosemary or thyme to get a nice aroma flowing through your home for added impression and taste.

The final stage is now ready. Place the casserole dish into the oven and bake for approximately 30 minutes at 180 to 190 degrees once the oven light goes off.

During this 30 minute wait, you can comfortably prepare you baked potato, rice or pasta and prepare the table and perhaps arrange a glass of wine -red is best with red meat. My favorite is a merlot.

When the 30 minutes is complete, remove the casserole dish and dish the homemade meatballs onto the plates and when you are ready sprinkle the parmesan cheese over the meatballs and throw on a sprig of parsley for decoration if you wish.

Well I hope you enjoy this age old favorite.
